HUMAN RIGHTS – NAVIGATING HUMAN RIGHTS LEGISLATION AND THE RESPONSIBLE RECRUITMENT LANDSCAPE AROUND THE WORLD

There has been a significant increase in human rights focused corporate responsibility legislation over the last few years, with more legislation on the horizon which directly affects companies' responsible sourcing programmes.

AIM-PROGRESS contracted the law firm Ropes & Gray, who have a leading ESG, CSR and supply chain compliance practice, to undertake regular reviews of this legal landscape. The first edition of an overview of the current legal landscape regarding Human Rights, with focus on disclosure, due diligence, remediation and trade has been made available. The added value of this particular exercise lies in the implementation diagrammes which have been added to each piece of legislation to illustrate whether and how the law applies to the company in question. The document will be updated twice a year, with the next update foreseen in the autumn.

In partnership with the WBCSD, AIM-PROGRESS is conducting a mapping exercise of current initiatives on responsible recruitment. This will help companies to compare between certification schemes with a view to  mutual recognition . The mapping will be released during the summer,. In addition, discussions are ongoing within our Asia-Pacific hub on existing responsible recruitment pilots which could be leveraged by our local company representatives for involvement.
