Navigating Human Rights Legislation and Responsible Recruitment Initiatives across the Globe

Against the background of increasing human rights focused corporate responsibility legislation emerging around the world, directly affecting companies' responsible sourcing programmes, AIM-PROGRESS contracted the law firm Ropes & Gray, who have a leading ESG, CSR and supply chain compliance practice, to undertake regular reviews of the legal landscape. We are pleased to make available the second edition of an overview of the current CSR-related legal landscape, with focus on disclosure, due diligence, remediation and trade. This update includes new information on various pieces of legislation, as well as a summary chart for the purpose of comparison.

In addition, AIM-PROGRESS is working with member companies to elaborate a constructive stance on what type of Human Rights Due Diligence legislation would be practical in the FMCG sector. There is particular momentum in the EU to drive this topic Europe-wide in 2020, and brands in particular are eager to play their part. Many brands have already spoken out in favour of some form of HRDD legislative framework, the latest being in the cocoa sector.

In partnership with the WBCSD, AIM-PROGRESS conducted a mapping exercise of current initiatives on responsible recruitment. The responsible recruitment initiatives database will help companies to compare between certification schemes. (Available to members only).
