Givaudan hosts AIM-PROGRESS membership meeting in Seville, Spain

Givaudan hosted the last general AIM-PROGRESS membership meeting of 2015 in Seville, Spain. The meeting was combined with a supplier field visit to Biolandes in Puebla de Guzman - a supplier of cistum labdanum - an ingredient for perfumes and cosmetics. This supplier visit was a great opportunity for AIM-PROGRESS members to understand the host’s supply chain, by illustrating responsible sourcing in practice.

CGF releases global palm oil sourcing guidelines

The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) has published global Sustainable Palm Oil Sourcing Guidelines. This is an important step in helping the consumer goods and retail industries to achieve zero net deforestation by 2020, as outlined in the CGF’s Deforestation Resolution. The guidelines are aiming to assist companies in designing their own policies for sourcing palm oil more sustainably.

Making a difference - Impact measurement

“Positively impacting people’s lives” is part of AIM-PROGRESS’ mission. But how can we measure whether our activities are actually making a difference? To this purpose, AIM-PROGRESS has commissioned work with Impactt Ltd to identify a series of indicators and measurement approaches in three main areas: working conditions & worker rights, job satisfaction and quality of life.

Engaging suppliers to achieve environmental commitments

The environment is one of the four pillars of responsible sourcing. Most AIM-PROGRESS members have strong sustainability programs in place, including ambitious commitments to reduce environmental impacts and source sustainable commodities. However, there often remains a gap between the environmental agenda of a company and the way it engages with suppliers on these topics.

Responsible Sourcing through a Human Rights lens

Having organised two training days focusing on human rights in global supply chains, together with TwentyFifty, the Human Rights work stream of AIM-PROGRESS is now looking to release a standard Human Rights training deck which members can use internally and with suppliers.

New Business Integrity guidance released by AIM-PROGRESS

Business Integrity (BI) is one of the four pillars of Responsible Sourcing, as defined by AIM-PROGRESS. A dedicated work stream, under the leadership of Emeka Nwankpah, Kellogg's Director for Ethics & Compliance, is focusing on practical support to members to address bribery and corruption.

Capability Building at the heart of responsible sourcing

Building capability to execute robust responsible sourcing programs is one of the key strategies of AIM-PROGRESS. The dedicated work stream is now led by Mattis Sydhagen from Orkla, taking over from Pascal Becker of Givaudan. The work stream now combines both member and supplier capability development. To reflect this change, the Supplier Capability Work Stream has been renamed to Capability Building Work Stream.

Mutual Recognition of audits continuing

AIM-PROGRESS supports the principle of mutual recognition of 4-pillar supplier audits between brand manufacturers. It creates awareness of suppliers having undergone an audit by an AIM-PROGRESS member through a shared list of supplier records, which is updated at regular intervals.
