Overview

The IOM Corporate Responsibility in Eliminating Slavery and Trafficking (CREST) is a regional partnership initiative working with several private and public sector actors to realize their potential to uphold human and labor rights of women and men migrant workers in key industries and supply chains in Asia.

The objectives are to:

  • Increase access to ethical recruitment and services for migrant workers

  • Eradicate fees charged to migrant job seekers

  • Widespread employment practices that guarantee transparent terms, conditions and remedies for migrant workers.

Activities / Outputs / Results
  • Policies and guidelines: assistance to develop a coherent approach to migrant workers and ethical recruitment
  • Labour supply chain mapping: assessment and research across migration corridors to improve visibility and oversight in labour recruitment processes
  • Training programmes for brands, employers and recruiters to address business and human rights risks
  • Ethical recruitment due diligence: toolkits for brands, employers and recruiters to carry out due diligence processes for ethical recruitment - IOM's ethical recruitment due diligence toolkit: the toolkit provides a platform to track, report and correct incidences of rights violations
  • Migrant support services: orientation materials for migrant workers to increase access to transparent and relevant information at all stages of migration
  • Remedy and grievance mechanisms: guideline and tools for employers and recruiters to provide grievance channels and remediation to workers
