The 10 Dhaka Principles provide a roadmap that traces the journey of a migrant worker from recruitment, through employment, to the end of contract and further employment or safe return to home countries. They provide key principles that employers and migrant recruiters should respect at each stage in the process to ensure migration with dignity.
They are intended for use by all industry sectors and in any country where workers migrate either inwards or outwards.
The final draft was agreed and endorsed by the Confederation of International Recruitment Agencies (now the World Employment Confederation) and the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC).
Dhaka Principles and Implementation Guide (revised, 2017) with the latter providing detailed and practical guidance on implementing the Principles, as well as background information and further resources. The principles are translated into 18 languages.
