Overview

IHRB's work in this area is focused on how workers are recruited and in particular the payment of recruitment fees to secure employment.
The remediation of recruitment fees to migrant workers is explored through cross-industry case studies in this report, and based on interviews with migrant workers in the region.

Activities / Outputs / Results

Report outlining key recommendations for remediation of recruitment fees, and going in detail on recruitment fees and debt, reasons for migration, distribution of recruitment fees, sources and impact of debt, business approaches to recruitment fee remediation, and challenges such as the business costs of remediation, bargaining power with suppliers, threat of reprisals and conflict of interest in the audit process, evidence of recruitment payments, and effectiveness of existing company remedy mechanisms.
