AIM-PROGRESS and the Global Social Compliance Programme (GSCP)

GSCP Board Chair, Marcela Manubens of PHV, presented to the June 2012 AIM-PROGRESS meeting in Dublin to familiarize AIM-PROGRESS members with their mission and activities and to discuss potential synergies.

GSCP was established in 2006 by a group of large global retailers. Since then a number of manufacturers joined, such as Chiquita, HP and PHV. Lates additions include Unilever and SC Johnson who are also members of AIM-PROGRESS.

GSCP aims to build Consensus (through a joint reference code and tools for social & environmental compliance), facilitate Convergence (through an Equivalence Process) and Collaboration (through Expert working groups, the Partner organisation network and regional networks).

How do the two global organisations interrelate?

AIM-PROGRESS sees GSCP as a horizontal umbrella organisation which defines references and best practices. AIM-PROGRESS is a vertical initiative focused on the FMCG manufacturing sector to bring about practical solutions. As such, both organisations are complementary.
