Eliminating corruption and bribery from supply chains is one of the pillars of a sound responsible sourcing program. A first piece of work undertaken with i2a at the beginning of the year was to benchmark member companies’ codes for business integrity elements with a view to provide guidance on wording such requirements.

As an extension of the work AIM-PROGRESS, again with the support of i2a, has released guidance on how to assure that suppliers are effectively implementing Business Integrity requirements. The new report incorporates examples of best practice from different industry sectors but with a particular focus on the FMCG sector. The review also includes key pieces of legislation (e.g. UK Bribery Act and US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) and external standards (including Transparency International and United Nations Global Compact).

 

The report found that all AIM-PROGRESS members have at least minimum processes relating to Business Integrity in place but these could benefit from further enhancements such as:
