AIM-Progress launches free e-learning course to combat child and forced labor in U.S. manufacturing

15 Oct 2024

October 2024 – AIM-Progress is pleased to announce the launch of a free e-learning course, Responding to Child Labor and Forced Labor in U.S. Manufacturing, developed by Verite with funding from AIM-Progress members and additional support from Walmart and Cargill. Now available to all U.S.-based companies, this unique course empowers organizations across the manufacturing sector to create safer, fairer labor practices.

Originally launched in December 2023, the course has already reached nearly 1,000 participants across AIM-Progress member supply chains. With this broader release, we hope to extend its impact to a much wider audience, promoting responsible labor practices nationwide.

About the course

This pioneering, open-access training provides U.S. manufacturers and their labor providers with essential knowledge to identify, address, and prevent child and forced labor. It includes guidance on remediating harm to minor workers and offers stakeholders—including civil society groups, researchers, and policymakers—valuable insights on effective collaboration with the private sector.

Course highlights

The two-hour training is designed for:

  • Manufacturers, co-manufacturers, co-packers, and service/labor providers in the U.S.
  • Professionals in HR, compliance, procurement, responsible sourcing, and worksite management.
  • Civil society organizations interested in partnering with the private sector to address labor issues.

In addition to the training, a comprehensive guidance document offers actionable steps to prevent and address child labor, equipping U.S.-based manufacturers with practical management solutions.
