Members use two bespoke tools to benchmark their responsible sourcing approaches including human rights due diligence.

The Responsible Sourcing Journey (RSJ)

A self-assessment tool that helps members improve how they implement their responsible sourcing programmes. The RSJ framework is available publicly.

Our Annual Benchmarking Survey (ABS)

An annual survey that helps members gauge the structure, priorities, and resources in their responsible sourcing programmes. It also helps them identify industry trends and best practices.

Members receive an individual company profile each year to help them prioritise their next steps. They also receive a full, consolidated, aggregated and anonymised report that summarises all our members’ progress and challenges. It identifies industry trends and best practices, as well as synergies and opportunities for collaboration.

The 2023 ABS revealed that:

  • our members are outperforming the industry in commitments to living wage and living income and access to grievance mechanisms.
  • 90% of members have carried out capability building of their supply base, with an intensification of localised training
  • more than 50% of members carried out capability building for smallholders/ and farmers
  • the share of members rewarding suppliers with longer-term contracts or premium prices for their responsible sourcing efforts has doubled

“The ability to benchmark ourselves against our peers and leverage best practice is crucial for ensuring continuous improvement in our responsible sourcing journey ”
