Member Engagement and Capability Building Manager (part-time) – Contractor Description
AIM-Progress is a forum of consumer goods manufacturers and suppliers assembled to enable and promote responsible sourcing practices and sustainable production systems. It is a global initiative supported and sponsored by AIM, the European Brands Association. Our vision to “positively impact people’s lives and ensure respect for human rights, while delivering value to our members and their supply chains.” AIM-Progress activities are member-led and central to our work is to build member capability to implement effective human rights and environmental due diligence. This role will be critical for engaging with and supporting our brand, supplier and retailer membership.
Reporting directly to the AIM-Progress Executive Director, the Member Engagement and Capability Building Manager’s role is to work with our members to support their human rights due diligence advancement and to attract new members.
Location: Remote – able to work with members on Central European Time and Eastern Standard Time
Salary: Up to €800 per day
Terms: Part-time, 2 and a half to three days per week on a contractor basis
Contract length: 12 months, with 3-month break clause
Primary Responsibilities
- Member capability building
- Work with our members to better understand the gaps in their company’s Responsible Sourcing Journey (RSJ) and human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD) maturity
- Work with members and the Secretariat to ensure AIM-Progress’s activities address members’ RSJ and HREDD maturity gaps
- Implement support plans for members including small group sessions, learning webinars, working groups and discussion clinics with support from other Secretariat staff and members
- Manage capability building activities against agreed timeframes and within agreed budgets.
- Member engagement strategy
- Manage new member inductions and support new members to maximise value from their AIM-Progress membership
- Develop and implement an annual retention strategy for members which includes designing members’ development journeys and creating supporting materials, communications and events (e.g. inductions, onboarding sessions, webinars, newsletters)
- Lead a series of annual member activities, aligned with the needs of our workstreams and activities, to understand members’ goals and support requirements
- Coordinate reporting cycles to ensure members meet AIM-Progress’s reporting requirements
- Respond to members’ ad hoc queries and request
- Track and monitor ongoing member engagement using appropriate tools and support the identification of new tools.
Additional responsibilities
- Support the delivery of AIM-Progress virtual and face-to-face member meetings, for example by providing input to the agenda, identifying member and external speakers, preparing and running plenary and breakout sessions
- Support the broader AIM-Progress team as required.
Skills and Experience required
- Deep knowledge of human rights and environmental due diligence as grounded in relevant international standards (i.e., UN Guiding Principles, OECD Guidelines, ILO Core Conventions)
- Experience within companies or working with companies to strengthen their approaches to human rights and human rights due diligence
- A passion for exceptional customer service and relationship-building
- Outstanding writing, editing and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated and organized
- Mature in attitude and able to work remotely with a small virtual team
- Strong IT literacy and confidence in learning about new IT systems
- Full professional proficiency in English is required; additional languages are an asset
- Robust understanding of human rights challenges within the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry preferred.
