This self-paced eLearning course by GIZ provides a structured yet flexible introduction to Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence (HREDD), equipping you with the knowledge and tools needed to integrate responsible business practices into your operations. Designed for those in suppliers or manufacturing companies, seeking to understand and implement HREDD, the course covers the key concepts, regulatory expectations, and practical steps for mitigating human rights and environmental risks in global supply chains. With interactive content, case studies, and practical guidance, this course allows you to progress at your own pace while gaining actionable insights into effective HREDD implementation.
The course is divided into 5 modules:
Module 1 – lays the foundation, introducing HREDD principles, relevant legislation, and the key risks and impacts involved.
Module 2 – focuses on the due diligence process, from embedding Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) to risk assessment, impact mitigation, grievance mechanisms, and ongoing monitoring.
Module 3 [Optional] – offers country-specific case studies, providing real-world insights into HREDD implementation in the country where you work. We currently have module 3 lessons available for Cambodia, Turkey, Pakistan, Serbia, Vietnam, Mexico, Tunisia, Bangladesh.
Module 4 [Optional] – explores responsible contracting as a key tool to support HREDD efforts.
Module 5 – concludes with a final assessment, summarizing key learnings and outlining next steps for action.
