Responsible Sourcing through a Human Rights lens

Having organised two training days focusing on human rights in global supply chains, together with TwentyFifty, the Human Rights work stream of AIM-PROGRESS is now looking to release a standard Human Rights training deck which members can use internally and with suppliers.

The workshops enabled participants to learn about the implications of the United Nations Guiding Principles (UNGPs) for Business and what they specifically mean for responsible sourcing; to identify the key elements of a human rights program for the supply chain of their company (including policies, codes, impacts, due diligence, remediation, grievance mechanisms); and to articulate the main elements of a business case to colleagues. In addition, it helped to generate ideas for future AIM-PROGRESS deliverables which will focus on further developing member capabilities to integrate human rights in their supply chains. The Human Rights training deck should be ready for release before the end of the year.

This fits into the AIM-PROGRESS future strategy, with a higher priority for Human Rights work through the work stream. This includes a key project on creating a common grievance mechanism in addition to other elements as set out in the work stream.

Rona Starr from McDonalds is leading the Human Rights work stream. Members wishing to get involved please contact Virginie Chouzenoux.
